If you have noticed more spiders around your house over the last few weeks, you are not imagining it.
Every year, UK homes see a real spike in spider sightings from late summer into autumn. It happens at roughly the same time every year, and there is a straightforward reason behind it.
Why There Are More Spiders in Your House Right Now
This is spider mating season. Male house spiders leave wherever they have been quietly hiding and go looking for a female to mate with. That search often brings them straight through an open window, a gap under a door, or a crack around a pipe.
They are not moving in. Most were probably there all along, tucked away somewhere quiet. What changes at this time of year is that the males become active and visible, which is why it can suddenly feel like the house has been invaded.
The season usually peaks in early to mid September and eases off by the end of October, though a mild autumn can stretch it further.

Why This Time of Year Is Hardest If You Have a Spider Phobia
For most people, spider season is a mild inconvenience. For someone with a genuine
spider phobia, it can dominate several months of the year.
The checking before you walk into a room. The hesitation before opening a cupboard, moving a shoe, or reaching into the shed. The way one sighting can leave you on edge for the rest of the day, or the rest of the week.
If this is the time of year you dread, that reaction makes complete sense. There are simply more opportunities to encounter one, and each encounter reinforces the same automatic fear response.
How Hypnotherapy Helps
Hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious mind, where a phobia actually lives. Rather than trying to talk yourself out of the fear, or force yourself to get used to it, hypnotherapy changes the automatic response itself.
You will not be asked to look at pictures of spiders, hold one, or put yourself in any uncomfortable situation. Everything happens in a calm, safe environment online.
Most clients notice a meaningful shift within one to three sessions. Many go into this year's spider season, or come out the other side of it, feeling genuinely different for the first time.
